The 10 Shopify apps every store in LATAM should have installed

Guía completa para mercados latinoamericanos

One of the most frequent questions my clients in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, and Chile ask me is: "Which apps do you recommend for my Shopify store?" And my answer always starts with a warning: more apps do not mean a better store.

Every app you install adds code to your store, can affect loading speed, and adds a monthly cost. The key is not to have many apps, but to have the right ones. Those that solve real operational problems and are well-adapted to the Latin American market.

In this article, I share the 10 apps I recommend and install myself in my clients' stores in LATAM, with an honest criterion for what each one is for, how much it costs, and when it makes sense to use it.

Criteria for choosing a good Shopify app in LATAM

Before the list, I want to give you the criteria I use to evaluate if an app is worthwhile:

  • Compatibility with the local market: Does it support Mexican, Colombian, Argentinian pesos? Does it have support in Spanish?
  • Impact on speed: How much code does it add to your theme? Does it affect loading time?
  • Cost-benefit ratio: Does the value it generates justify the monthly subscription?
  • Support quality: Do they respond quickly? Do they have documentation in Spanish?
  • Frequent updates: Is the app kept compatible with the latest versions of Shopify?

With these criteria in mind, here is the list.

The 10 essential apps for Shopify stores in LATAM

1. Klaviyo — Email marketing and cart recovery

What it's for: Email marketing automation with advanced segmentation. Welcome flows, abandoned cart recovery, win-back for inactive customers, post-purchase, and more.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: It has native integration with Shopify, supports Spanish, and allows segmentation by purchase behavior with a precision that few tools can match. The abandoned cart flow alone can recover between 5% and 15% of lost carts.

Cost: Free up to 250 contacts. From $20 USD/month for larger lists.

When to use it: From day one. There's no excuse not to have active cart recovery.

2. Judge.me — Product reviews

What it's for: Verified review system with photos and videos, import from AliExpress, automatic sending of post-purchase review requests, and rich snippets for SEO.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: In markets where online distrust is high, reviews are the most powerful conversion factor. Judge.me offers the best value for money on the market, far surpassing Yotpo in terms of cost.

Cost: Very complete free plan. Paid plan from $15 USD/month.

When to use it: From day one. Reviews accumulate over time; the sooner you start, the better.

3. Loox — Photo reviews (visual alternative to Judge.me)

What it's for: Similar to Judge.me but with a greater emphasis on photo and video reviews from customers. It has very attractive visual widgets that work especially well in fashion, beauty, and lifestyle niches.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: In categories where the image of the product in use is crucial (clothing, cosmetics, accessories), real customer photos convert much better than studio photos.

Cost: From $9.99 USD/month.

When to use it: If you sell products where the visual aspect in use is important. If not, Judge.me is sufficient and more economical.

4. Tidio — Live chat and AI for customer service

What it's for: Live chat, AI chatbot, integration with WhatsApp and Messenger, automatic responses to FAQs, and real-time visitor tracking.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: In LATAM, customers want quick answers before buying. An active chat can increase the conversion rate by 10% to 30%. WhatsApp integration is especially valuable in markets where WhatsApp is the primary communication channel.

Cost: Free plan available. Paid plans from $29 USD/month.

When to use it: When you have the capacity to respond to chat during business hours. An unresponsive chat generates more frustration than not having one.

5. Transporter / Matrixify — Bulk data import and export

What it's for: Bulk import and export of products, customers, orders, metafields, and more. Essential for migrations, mass price and inventory updates, and synchronization with external systems.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: Many stores in LATAM manage large catalogs or need to synchronize with local inventory systems. Matrixify is the most powerful tool for this on Shopify.

Cost: From $20 USD/month. There's a free plan with limitations.

When to use it: When you need to make mass changes to your catalog or when you are in the process of migration.

6. Translate & Adapt — Translation and localization

What it's for: Translates your store into multiple languages and allows content to be adapted by market. Native integration with Shopify Markets to display the correct language based on the visitor's country.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: If you sell in multiple LATAM countries or want to expand into the English-speaking market (Latinos in the US, for example), this app is essential. It is Shopify's official solution and the most stable on the market.

Cost: Free (official Shopify app).

When to use it: When you operate in more than one market or language.

7. Shopify Flow — Process automation

What it's for: No-code workflow automation: automatically tag customers, send low inventory alerts, archive completed orders, manage fraud, and hundreds of other automations.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: In stores where the team is small (like most in LATAM), automating repetitive tasks frees up time for what really matters: selling and serving customers.

Cost: Free (official Shopify app, available on all plans).

When to use it: From the moment you identify a task you perform manually and repetitively.

8. DSers or AutoDS — Dropshipping and supplier management

What it's for: Dropshipping order management, inventory synchronization with suppliers, bulk order processing, and shipment tracking.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: The dropshipping model continues to grow in LATAM. DSers is AliExpress's official app and the most stable for this model. AutoDS is a more complete alternative if you work with multiple suppliers.

Cost: DSers has a free plan. AutoDS from $9.90 USD/month.

When to use it: Only if your business model is dropshipping. If you have your own inventory, you don't need it.

9. Recharge or Bold Subscriptions — Subscriptions and recurring payments

What it's for: Allows you to offer products on a subscription basis with automatic recurring charges. Ideal for regularly consumed products: coffee, supplements, cosmetics, food, etc.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: The subscription model is growing in LATAM and is one of the best ways to generate predictable revenue. If your product is consumed regularly, subscriptions can transform your business model.

Cost: Recharge from $99 USD/month + transaction fee. Bold from $39.99 USD/month.

When to use it: When you have a regularly consumed product and want to build a base of recurring customers.

10. Shopify Bundles — Product packages and bundles

What it's for: Creates discounted product packages, fixed bundles, or customer-configurable bundles. Increases average order value and facilitates cross-selling.

Why I recommend it for LATAM: Bundles are one of the most effective strategies to increase average order value without investing more in advertising. It is Shopify's official app, free, and well integrated with native inventory.

Cost: Free (official Shopify app).

When to use it: When you have complementary products that can be sold together with an attractive discount.

Apps I DO NOT recommend (even if they are popular)

I'll be honest here too. There are very popular apps that I do not recommend for most stores in LATAM:

  • Yotpo: Excellent product, but expensive for the Latin American market. Judge.me offers 80% of the functionalities at 20% of the price.
  • Gorgias: Very good for large support teams, but excessive for small and medium-sized stores. Tidio or Shopify's native chat are sufficient in most cases.
  • Aggressive pop-up apps: Discount pop-ups that appear 2 seconds after entering the store generate more bounces than conversions in LATAM. I prefer more subtle email capture strategies.
  • False urgency apps (countdown timers with reset counters): In LATAM, where online distrust is already high, false urgency tactics damage your brand's reputation more than they help.

Frequently asked questions about Shopify apps for LATAM

How many apps should I have installed in my Shopify store?
There's no magic number, but as a general rule: fewer than 10 active apps is a good goal. Each app adds code to your store. Prioritize quality over quantity and periodically check if each app you pay for is truly generating value.

Are free apps reliable?
It depends. Official free Shopify apps (Flow, Translate & Adapt, Bundles) are completely reliable. Free third-party apps can be good, but always check reviews, update frequency, and available support.

How do I know if an app is affecting my store's speed?
Use Google PageSpeed Insights before and after installing an app. You can also use Shopify's Speed Report in your analytics dashboard. If the score drops significantly after installing an app, evaluate if the benefit justifies the impact on speed.

Can I use Klaviyo if I sell in Mexican or Colombian pesos?
Yes. Klaviyo works with any currency and allows you to customize emails with the local currency format. The platform is available in Spanish and has complete documentation for the Spanish-speaking market.

Which app do you recommend for installment payments in Mexico or Argentina?
For installments, the best option in LATAM is Mercado Pago, which has native integration with Shopify and allows interest-free installments in Mexico and Argentina. In Mexico, you can also use Kueski Pay or Aplazo for BNPL (buy now, pay later).

Conclusion: the right app stack can transform your store

The right apps are not an expense, they are an investment. A well-configured cart recovery flow can generate hundreds or thousands of dollars a month in sales that would otherwise be lost. An active review system can steadily increase your conversion rate. A well-attended chat can close sales that the site alone wouldn't.

But the ideal stack depends on your specific business: your category, your volume, your team, and your market. There is no universal list that works for everyone.

If you want me to review your store and tell you exactly which apps make sense for your case, that's what I work on every day with clients in LATAM.
